The best non-invasive body contouring technology on the market is VelaShape 3. We say this because we have tried them all, and we got the best results with VelaShape 3. I owned a Velshape first generation back in the early 2000’s and it was “meh”, but like all technologies, it can take some time to perfect. Recently, I tried a new “strap-on” bipolar RF (radiofrequency) machine and let’s just say, it did not impress me. Their selling point was that you can just strap it on and leave the patient for 15 minutes up to an hour. Well, it took multiple adjustments, so it’s not just strap and go. Usually six treatments are needed at an average total cost of $3000 per area. The “treatment area” is about the size of two hands. So, if I wanted to tighten, tone, and trim one area, are we talking $9000?!! AND it’s not permanent! A face treatment on two areas can cost $10,800! I will keep trying new technology as it comes out, and whenever I find something better, we will trade in the Velashape 3, but you have to watch these laser companies– they are always re-inventing the wheel for more and more money….newer is not always better. I was irked that their other selling point was that I could charge patients more. How tacky…
How VelaShape 3 Works
Velashape 3 uses bipolar radiofrequency AND infrared technologies AND suction, so two energy inputs and one mechanical input. Where skin tightening is concerned, more is better. The idea behind all the non-invasive skin tightening machines is to increase the temperature to 40-43 degrees Celsius and maintain it for 15 to 45 minutes. This heating is thoroughly researched and documented to cause collagen tightening. Velashape 3 requires six treatments, and it is important that they are done weekly, or biweekly, for optimum skin tightening, cellulite reduction and fat reduction. Although not specifically intended for fat reduction, the heat causes a reduction in the size of the fat cells. Permanent fat reduction is best treated with CoolSculpting or Liposuction. (See my blog on FIRE &ICE) Why the suction component? The Vacuum encourages lymphatic drainage to remove toxins and fluid and thus reduces the “puffiness” of cellulite AND helps to stretch the fibrous cords that tether the skin to the underlying muscle– you know, the “dimples” of cellulite. Velashape 3, like all the others, is not permanent and requires at least quarterly maintenance. But hey, you can’t go to the gym quarterly! Tried that already…
What does it feel like?
A hot stone massage! There can be a little “zap” occasionally on boney or small areas like the arms, kind of like when the hot stone is initially placed. It is important to drink plenty of water to help flush the toxins and mobilize fat and avoid toxins like sugar. Like any self-improvement program, a healthy diet and lifestyle go hand in hand
What is perhaps the best part? We do these personally and individually. We do not hook you up in a room and say buh-bye. We actually apply the pressure, and while the Velashape 3 constantly measures the temperature to assure we are reaching our goals, we can adjust the parameters to make it more comfortable.
Wait there’s an even better part! A package of six is $1500. Half the price of the newest machine and, most importantly, as I explained above, the new machine didn’t yield results. That new “wheel” might be round, but it took me nowhere.
