Introducing Dr. Treece: A Fusion of Artistry & Medical Mastery

Step into the world of Dr. Penelope Treece, where the realms of artistry and surgical expertise harmoniously converge. A North Carolina native, her journey commenced with her grandmother’s discerning eye, recognizing her innate artistic talents, which she seamlessly melded with a deep-seated passion for the practice of medicine. In the enchanting backdrop of New Orleans, she fine-tuned her skills during her residency, crafting pioneering techniques in the realm of breast reconstruction. Her expertise extends into the realm of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, offering a holistic range of solutions, all underscored by an unwavering commitment to your well-being on the path to self-enhancement.

“Being a surgeon and a woman allows me a unique personal approach to my patients. I think it helps me understand what patients want because I usually have the same issues and want the same changes! My practice philosophy has always been to take the ‘plastic’ out of Plastic Surgery. There are constantly new developments in Aesthetics and Plastic Surgery that make my work exciting and ever-changing. Still, it was after attending my very first plastic surgery convention that I learned sometimes less is more!”

Meet Dr. Treece

Dr. Penelope Treece, a native of North Carolina, embarked on her artistic journey from an early age. Her grandmother was the first to recognize her talent, not only becoming the proud owner of one of her oil paintings but also encouraging her to explore the field of medicine. This encouragement set her on a trajectory that led her to the School of Math and Science and eventually to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she pursued her college and medical education.

While Dr. Treece engaged in research within the realms of Dermatology and Radiology during her academic journey, her innate artistic roots and her fascination with human anatomy naturally drew her toward the field of Surgical Specialties. This artistic inclination paved the way for her journey to New Orleans, where she completed her internship and residency at the Louisiana State University Department of Surgery, based at Charity Hospital. It’s worth noting that Charity Hospital, once one of the oldest and most prominent medical institutions in the United States, sadly met its demise following the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina.

Dr. Treece's Experience

Dr. Treece’s immersion in the demanding patient caseload at Charity Hospital not only provided her with a platform for groundbreaking research but also catalyzed the inception of an innovative technique in breast reconstruction, famously known as the DIEP Flap. Subsequently, her journey led her to the hallowed halls of the Medical College of South Carolina in Charleston, where she honed her expertise in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, further elevating her mastery.

For a span of three years, she graced Atlanta with her private practice, where her surgical virtuosity transformed lives and solidified her reputation as a consummate professional in the field. Yet, her heart’s true resonance lay in the beguiling embrace of New Orleans. Its enchanting amalgamation of culinary delights, architectural wonders, historical depth, and an artistic melting pot, interwoven with a tapestry of fascinating personalities and cultures, whispered an irresistible invitation, beckoning her to a place she could unreservedly call “home.”
